Degrees and Certifications:
This is Mrs. Finney’s eight year serving the students at New Connections; however she been a part of Earlywood Educational Services for 20 years! She received her Masters of Social Work Degree from Indiana University in May 2010, and maintains her School Social Work license through the Indiana Department of Education. Mrs. Finney is passionate about working with students who struggle with emotional and behavioral challenges. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two children, strength training at the gym, and simply BEING.
New Connections School Social Worker Role:The School Social Worker provides case management, group, and individual counseling to students at New Connections. She provides consultation to both New Connections and home school staff, and collaborates with them in developing appropriate behavioral strategies for students. The School Social Worker communicates with outside community agencies, and supports families of New Connections’ students in coordinating educational, behavioral, and emotional care.New Connections’ Groups:The School Social Worker conducts one group per week. The groups last 30 – 45 minutes and are of a therapeutic, psychosocial, and/or recreational nature. Group topics may include facilitating activity and discussions on family composition, grief and loss, self-esteem, anger management, bullying, ADHD management, social skill development, team building, or leadership development.
